Ensuring LGBTI Employee Wellbeing and Inclusion
Inclusion of different people in the workplace leads to a healthier work environment and higher financial results. However, according to data from the online survey on discrimination against LGBTI people by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) from 2019, every second employee with a different sexual orientation has been the victim of ridicule or threats; one in four employees hides their sexual orientation from their colleagues; and one in five employees quit their job because of being different.
The international one-day Better Together forum, to be held in Sofia on September 17th, will focus on the inclusion, equality and well-being of LGBTI workers in the workplace.
For the first time in Bulgaria, experts from international organizations and businesses such as IBM, Google, Progress, Reward Gateway, the World Bank, activists and HR professionals will gather to discuss topics such as the inclusion of LGBTI employees; reducing discrimination in the workplace; creation of employee resource groups in companies for the purpose of equality; language and pronouns in the workplace; achieving successful partnerships between businesses and the civil sector in support of LGBTI rights, and many others.
European legislation also pays attention to the health and well-being of workers and recommends active action. Directive 89/391 / EEC aims to introduce measures to improve the safety, health and well-being of employees working in the European Union.
Who the event is for: LGBTI employees, team leaders, HR directors and specialists, D&I specialists and experts, as well as managers from areas such as Organization Culture, Leadership Development, Employee Engagement, Learning and Development, Succession Planning, Talent Acquisition, Global Business, Ethics and Integrity, and others.
The forum will be held in hybrid form from 10 am to 4 pm on September 17 in Launchee (2 Knyaginya Maria Luiza Blvd., Central Department Store, ground floor).
