The rubric OUT @ work of Proude.bg introduces LGBT people who are open about their sexuality and identity in the workplace. One of them is Eva Makinay who works for Accenture.
“While I am aware that everyone has a different perspective and some may not agree with my lifestyle in general (for whatever reason – cultural, religious, personal), I feel safe in my workplace, because I know I’m protected somehow.”
Eva MakiInay is half Portuguese, half Luxembourgish and her mother – Teresa Fernandez – also works for Accenture.
“I consider it a privilege that we work together. I have worked for the company for many years and it is a relief to know that it is in a safe and accepting environment….Parents love their children unconditionally for years without knowing their sexuality and gender identity. Why should this new information at some point affect the love they give or receive?…Parents should always love and support their children, regardless of their identity, because in the end they are all the same person – the product of their love.”
