After two-plus years of cancellations during the pandemic, hundreds of LGBTQ Pride celebrations are coming back at full strength this year.
Sofia Pride – the largest event in support of human rights in Bulgaria will celebrate its 15th anniversary on June 18 this year under the motto “Proud to be”. The traditional march in support of the LGBTI community was held for the first time in Bulgaria in 2008, 38 years after the first Pride Parade, which took place on June 28, 1970 in New York. Pride marches remain one of the most important tools for the LGBTI community to make itself more visible and to put on the agenda the problems it faces.
The concert of Sofia Pride with the participation of some of the biggest stars of Bulgaria will traditionally be held in front of the Monument to the Soviet Army. The doors will open at 2 pm, the music program will start at 4 pm, and the procession itself will take place from 7.30 pm to 9 pm. See more on the official website of the event.
